Going by the figures it seems Saif’s latest outing hasn’t managed to impress the audience big time
Happy Ending which released last Friday got off to a sluggish start at the box office despite being a typical Bollywood commercial film. Starring Saif Ali Khan, Ileana D’Cruz, Kalki Koechlin and Govinda in the lead, the romantic comedy created good buzz but it failed to rake in nig moolah at ticket windows. On day 1, the film collected around Rs 4 crore and on day 2 the figures were pretty much the same bringing its two day total to Rs 8 crore approximately. On Sunday too, Krishna DK and Raj Nidimoru’s directorial venture fared below average. As per early estimates, Happy Ending minted around Rs 5 crore on day 3. This means Saif-Ileana starrer has grossed Rs 13 crore nett in its first weekend at the domestic box office.
According to Boxofficeindia, “Happy Ending has had a disastrous fate at the box office. The film grossed just 13 crore nett over the first weekend. The low collections outside the metros are no surprise but the premium multiplexes in places like Mumbai city, Delhi city and Bangalore at least should have shown good growth from Friday afternoon. The last major release which was a disaster like this was Gori Tere Pyaar Main and coincidentally it was released in the same week last year. That film grossed 14 crore nett and although Happy Ending will beat that its no consolation as the costs involved are also higher.”
