The entertainment industry in Pakistan is replete with many talented singers, actors and artists trying to carve a niche for themselves in the rapidly-changing media landscape. Zeba Bakhtiar, known for her roles in PTV drama ‘Anarkali’ and Indian film ‘Hina, is one such individual who has managed to excel at everything she tried her hand at.
Replying to various questions of Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain in Geo News live morning show ‘Subh-e-Pakistan’, she said marriage wasn’t a prerequisite for happiness, as enjoying a happy life was a must which she had already been having.
But when the host insisted, she accepted the idea of marrying again conditionally and said she was leading a very relaxing life with her son, daughter-in-law and grandson. She would think about the second marriage in case she found a good life partner with permission from the son. Zeba praised Aamir for his personality and said he had the looks of a hero and could be cast as a hero in films.
Zeba rejected the rumours about her marriage with Javed Jafferi in India and said Muslim-Hindu riots had erupted in India at that time and she was made a target of propaganda when she came closer to Muslims naturally. She wasn’t answerable to anyone except Allah, if someone still levelled allegations, she added.
Zeba praised her father famous lawyer Yahya Bakhtiar and said she still missed him as he was very kind and loved her very much, adding that very few people like him were in the world.About entering the film industry despite being having a conservative family background, she said it happened only because of Haseena Moin who had made her father to allow appearing in Hina – a film produced by Raj Kapoor Films, as she (Haseena) was reviewing the script.
Replying to a query, she said her son Azaan and daughter-in-law Sophia knew each since childhood, adding, “I am a grandmother now as I had arranged the marriage of my son when he was 19. ”According to Zeba, she does not control the lives of children and, in fact, her son and daughter-in-law dictate too much. She will not trust the people, if she is born again.
On the appeal of Zeba, who has been fighting diabetes for the last 23 years, Dr Aamir promised that he would play his role in the campaign aimed at creating awareness and fighting the disease.
