The model turned actress will soon be seen in Fox Life India’s new reality show. In conversation with Mahek…

Fox Life India’s new show Life Mein Ek Baar has the ex-Bigg Boss contestant, Mahek Chahal and her three other friends Pia Trivedi, Evelyn Sharma and Rochelle Rao exploring the adventurous traveller in them. The show is for all you guys out there with a long bucket list waiting for the right time to start living life. Well, according to Mahek there is no right or wrong time, at least that is what she learnt from her first trip to Thailand on the show! I caught up with the Norwegian beauty to talk about her show, the things she learnt and the stuff she’d want to do life mein ek baar!

Tell me a little bit about Life Mein Ek Baar.

I am really excited about the show. I am returning to reality television after Bigg Boss which is almost after 2 years. It’s a different show. Firstly there is no competition involved; it is not like a Khatron Ke Khiladi. It’s just about four girls taking a trip together to Thailand to do things off their bucket list like scuba diving, skydiving etc. We bond over the experiences and it is about the emotional and physical journey we take together.
What was the first thing you struck off your bucket list?

Scuba-diving! I get a little claustrophobic and the trick is to not panic because if you start panicking you’ll drown! I went down without panicking! Then I also jumped off a cliff, it was really scary and exciting at the same time! So I was really scared but then you do these kinds of things life mein ek baar!

Why did the four of you (Evelyn Sharma, Pia Trivedi and Rochelle Rao) get roped in for this show?

Well, because we made an interesting mix of people. If one of us would get scared the other would be their strength. Pia is an adrenaline junkie, Evelyn thinks of safety first before getting into an adventure, I am a bit of both of them and Rochelle is the baby of our group! We compliment each other’s personalities. I am still in touch with all of them, we text each other all day! I was really happy to have met them.

What is the wackiest thing you did on the trip to Thailand?

I did kite surfing; it was the most scary yet exhilarating thing to do!I was attached to a huge kite but that day when we were shooting there was a storm in the sea and I kept hitting giant rocks. For a moment I though that if I ruin my face on one of those rocks my career would go down the drain because it is my bread and butter! I got really scared but at the same time really proud of myself for doing the activity. I came out with my knees scraped; it was also a lesson to not get into things in a rush without thinking of safety first.

What is the one unforgettable part of your trip?

Definitely the scuba-diving. Like you have seen things above the ground, you walk on the ground, you breathe in the oxygen and all but down there I saw a world that I’d never seen before. It was breath-taking! I couldn’t speak under there, I couldn’t hear a thing, I could only breath from my mouth but the serene silence that kept me company was amazing. And oh, the fish, those huge fish! It was one of the most beautiful experiences of my life!

Did the trip to Thailand change you?

I experienced the feeling of fear and happiness at the same time! I have felt these two separately but never together. I was so scared doing some of the activities but as and when I overcame my fears I experienced unbounded happiness. This trip opened me. Now whenever I take the next trip, I don’t want to stay at a luxury hotel; I’d rather do some research, do some adventure sports, live my life and do all the things on my bucket list!
