The ace filmmaker passed away at the age of 68…

Ravi Chopra has been synonymous with famous TV serials like Mahabharat and Ramayan. The ace producer director passed away a few minutes back and the whole film industry has gone into a frenzy. He is the son of legendary producer director BR Chopra and the nephew of producer director Yash Chopra. His cousins Aditya Chopra and Uday Chopra have also shared the grief along with others in the Chopra family. In remembrance, here are some Bollywood block busters Mr Ravi directed…

Zameer (1975): The film starred Amitabh Bachchan, Saira Banu, Shammi Kapoor, Madan Puri and Vinod Khanna. It was a remake of 1960 film Bombai Ka Baboo starring Dev Anand.

The Burning Train (1980): This action thriller featured Asrani, Parveen Babi, Danny Dengzongpa, Dharmendra, Simi Garewal, Jeetendra, Vinod Khanna, Hema Malini, Vinod Mehra, Nazir Hussain, Mukri, Ranjeet and Neetu Singh. The plot revolved around a train named Super Express that catches fire on its inaugural run from New Delhi to Mumbai.

Mazdoor (1983): Starring Dilip Kumar, Nanda, Nazir Hussain, Raj Babbar, Suresh Oberoi, Rati Agnihotri, Iftekhar, Madan Puri and Johhny Walker, this film has a very down to earth story which spoke about the problems that a daily waged labourer faces.

Dahleez (1986): The film featured Meenakshi Sheshadri, Jackie Shroff and Raj Babbar in lead roles along with Smita Patil, Aruna Irani, Zarina Wahab and Shafi Inamdar in supporting roles. The film received immense critical acclaim upon its release because of its homely storyline.

Baghban (2003): This drama film directed by Ravi Chopra featured Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini in lead roles. Aman Verma, Samir Soni, Saahil Chadha and Nasir Kazi portray their four sons. Salman Khan, Mahima Chaudhry, Paresh Rawal, Rimi Sen and Lilette Dubey are featured in supporting roles. It is an unofficial adaptation of the 1937 movie Make Way for Tomorrow and many scenes and the plot of the film was also inspired from the 1958 Kannada film School Master. The film was remade in Kannada as Ee Bandhana in 2007 starring Vishnuvardhan and Jaya Pradha in the lead.

Baabul (2006): This drama film starred Amitabh Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Salman Khan, John Abraham and Hema Malini. The movie was dubbed in Telugu as Premabhishekam. The movie celebrated Ravi Chopra’s father, BR Chopra’s 50 years in showbizz.
