Rang Rasiya

Director: Ketan Mehta

Star cast: Randeep Hooda, Nandana Sen, Gaurav Dwivedi, Vipin Sharma, Paresh Rawal, Jim Boeven, Feryna Wazheir, Darshan Jariwala, Suhasini Mulay, Sachin Khedekar, Tom Alter, Triptha Parashar, Vikram Gokhale, Rashaana Shah

Synopsis: Rang Rasiya is the story of famous portrait painter Raja Ravi Varma. He was the person who painted the pictures of various gods and goddesses. It is a biopic on his life and has been shot across various famous locations in and around Rajasthan. There was a lot of controversy regarding him in those days as to how he could personify the faces of gods and goddesses.

Why should you watch: The film will have some stellar performances from Randeep Hooda, Nandana Sen and others. It is also a Ketan Mehta film and it will be great to see his film after a long time. He has been associated with magnum opus movies. Also the movie had been embroiled in a lot of controversies which has created a lot of hype around the film. A lot of the scenes in the film are erotic in nature as well.

The Shaukeens

Director: Abhishek Sharma

Star cast: Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher, Annu Kapoor, Piyush Mishra, Lisa Haydon, Rati Agnihotri, Abhishek Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Michelle

Synopsis: The Shaukeens is a remake of the 1982 film Shaukeen directed by Basu Chatterjee, starring Ashok Kumar, Utpal Dutt, AK Hangal, Rati Agnihotri and Mithun Chakraborty. The same story has been revamped for today’s generation and it will be great to watch them portray the same story in the present day.

Why should you watch: It is an Akshay Kumar film and will have its typical comedy feel. Though the central idea of the film of three lecherous old men fussing over a girl is taken from the original 1982 film, the story is set in teh present day and has its own take on the idea. It will be quite interesting and cute to see veteran actors like Anupam Kher, Anu Kapoor and Piyush Mishra show off their naughty, tharki side. Don’t know about you, but we sure can’t wait for this one to hit the screens.

A Decent Arrangement

Director: Sarovar Banka

Star cast: Shabana Azmi, Adam Laupus, Diksha Basu, Lethia Nall, Farid Currim, Shreya Sharma, Vikram Kapadia, Navniit Nisshan, Adhir Bhat

Synopsis: A Decent Arrangement is the story of Ashok Khosla (Adam Laupus), an Indian-American copywriter who journeys to India seeking an arranged marriage. After he encounters an American woman travelling through India and is set up with an Indian woman who unexpectedly captivates him, Ashok must navigate the complexity of cultural traditions and the leanings of his own heart. With subtle comedy and true-to-life drama, A Decent Arrangement shows us a side of India not commonly seen by western audiences and delivers an affecting story that resonates with those of us in search of our place in a changing world.

Why should you watch: It is a small budget film but with a big heart. The story line, in itself, is quite unlike the regular Bollywood masala movies. To top it up, we also have stellar performers like Shabana Azmi. We are looking forward to catch the cultural and traditional dilemma of the characters.

So audiences, go ahead and take your pick this week.
