Today’s episode was the finale of season 3 and Aamir touched upon issues like ragging, acid attack and men treating women like objects. Overall, the actor-director-TV host discussed the issue of men being more aggressive than women and committing more crimes…
Aamir Khan began the show by asking the audience what qualities should #ARealMan have. Since Khan has been highlighting serious social issues on his show, this question seemed a bit strange in the beginning. But as the episode progressed, it all made sense and how! In today’s episode, the talented actor showed various stories and they all led to one question – why are men so aggressive? Is there a problem with their upbringing? why don’t they think twice before hitting someone or throwing acid? It was indeed a thought-provoking episode and kudos to Aamir for discussing the issue in a very efficiently and sensible manner…
The Good
Though topics like ragging and acid attacks have often been discussed on news channels, Aamir treated these subjects with as any other social evil which needs to be eradicated ASAP. Personal experiences which were shared on the show also threw light on the how badly it affected the families of victims and how their suffering would be lifelong.
The story of Mahendra Singh, whose young son was beaten to death because of a small accident, moved everyone to tears including Aamir. Worst, the person who kept beating Mahendra’s son mercilessly, was encouraged by his father to do so. Through this story, Aamir made a very valid that its’ not just the young generation but men in general who need to think rationally, be responsible and patient. Killing is not the solution for any problem.
In today’s episode, Kiran Rao’s hubby went one step further and also discussed how our cinema has influenced men to treat women like objects. Aamir spoke this problem with Bollywood actresses Deepika Padukone, Kangana Ranaut and Parineeti Chopra. These three beauties only added depth to the topic by sharing their personal experiences. It was nice to see the leading ladies of Bollywood agreeing to the fact that films should stop portraying women like objects as they do impact millions of people.
Then Aamir Khan invited Amitabh Bachchan on the show and discussed with him issues like gender inequality and discrimination. Considering Big B has a huge fan following and may worship him, it was a wise move on Aamir’s part to get him talk about these problems on national television.
Unlike other episodes, this one didn’t seem repetitive. In fact, Aamir spoke about each issue in detail and made sure that the right message was getting across the audience.
The bad
There were times when Aamir could have maintained silence and just let the other person speak at length. But it seems Mr Perfectionist has so much to say that he just can’t wait but jump in the conversation to put forth his views which is a bit annoying.
After two hours of season finale, the live show Mumkin Hai could have been done away with.
Verdict
The finale of season 3 indeed ended on high note with Aamir compelling people to think hard about their actions and how society needs to change its outlook towards women and how men need to change themselves first. We thought Mr Perfectionist did a fantastic job by handling too many issues at one with great ease. What do you think, peeps?
