While some Bollywood personalities have been sporting this style that’s longer on top and shorter on the sides, others continue to maintain a longer hairdo

The undercut, that takes inspiration from the 1940s, has fast become a much-in-demand style. The cut that generally refers to shaved sides and a long section in the front, has many versions.

Actors Sidharth Malhotra and Farhan Akhtar have been spotted flaunting this cut recently. Designer Kunal Rawal too was seen with this do. As has Shahid Kapoor post Haider. Meanwhile in Hollywood, Brad Pitt’s hairstyle in his recent World War flick Fury also was a deviation of the undercut.

Hair expert Aalim Hakim says that currently undercuts are very in. “Men are opting for styles with longer length on the top and shorter on the sides and back. This can look cool with hair tattoos or carving underneath. One can also add a chopstick to hold the locks in place. Having said that, long hair looks good too. Someone like Hrithik Roshan, who went for longer curls for his last film, can carry it off really well. Longer locks can add sex appeal. It gives the wearer a more carefree, rockstar look.”

Hrithik Roshan has made a longer mane his signature style in recent times. Even singer Mohit Chauhan has grown out his curls for a shoulder-length style. Singer Sonu Nigam who has experimented with his mane over the years is sporting some length.

Hairstylist Sapna Bhavnani says she has no preference when it comes to longer or shorter hairdos. “Both are popular among male clients, but currently the undercut is preferred, especially by youngsters. Medium-length hair works depending on the individual. Generally, there is a preference for slightly shorter cuts.”

The jury is still out. When it comes to men’s hairstyles, both the longer and the shorter dos seem to be a popular choice!
