Looks like steamy scenes and erotic songs couldn’t do the trick for the Vivek Agnihotri film
Zid starring Priyanka Chopra’s cousin Mannara was off to a sluggish start at the Box office on Day 1 but has marginally picked up on its second day. The film used erotic scenes and steamy posters to create a buzz, PC was seen vociferously promoting her little sister’s debut and even controversies like the tiff between the film’s main leads Mannara and Shraddha Das were supposed to ensure a strong Box office run for Zid.
Unfortunately, none of these tricks to could make the film work at the Box office. According to a report by Komala Nahata, the movie has managed to rake in merely Rs 5.56 crores in two days. Perhaps the reason behind the sluggish start is the lack of star quality in the film which the new comers Mannara and Karanvir Sharma couldn’t ensure.
Ironically, earlier a very similar looking film, Hate Story 2 starring Surveen Chawla, Jay Bhanushali and Sushant Singh has did reasonably well at the BO because it had a high erotic quotient. Sadly, the same wasn’t the case with Zid.
Zid is losing in the race against Ungli starring Emraan Hashmi and Kangana Ranaut, at the Box office (it stands at Rs. 7.6 crores as of now.) Watch this space for more Box office updates!
