Looks like after philanthropist and spiritual Guru, The Dera Sacha Sauda head now aims at being a superhero
All the hullabaloo around banning Aamir Khan’s latest release PK brings me to think how thick certain fundamentalists can be. The fanatics who are so shallow that they couldn’t even get the unbiased criticism of Godmen and blind faith in the movie are now out baying for its blood. Well, I’d want to distract them by giving them a new toy, a new film to ban and that my friends is, MSG: Messenger of God. Read on to know why I think banning MSG would be a better idea than banning PK…
So most of you might already have seen the bizarre trailer by Godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insaan ( yep, that is his full name) who is also a philanthropist. Now I am okay with the philanthropy part but I just fail to understand why a Godman would invest heck loads of money and time on a Bollywood debut! If he is a true messenger of God or a “manager of God” as PK would put it, shouldn’t he spend time guiding people on the right path? In case you haven’t seen the trailer yet, here you go:
I have 3 reasons why MSG should be banned instead of PK. Here they go…
MSG looks like a tack-fest:
While I’ll give this movie the benefit of the doubt and say that it might be promoting a good cause but seriously a Rohit Shetty movie rip-off is not the way to propagate God’s profound teachings. Moreover, MSG looks like a vehicle to place this Godman on a pedestal of a superhero, which I am pretty sure the God didn’t intend. It isn’t the most modest move by Ram Rahim to call himself “The bravehart saint of India” in a movie he is producing and starring in! PK indulges in no such show of turning the protagonist into a superhero!
It turns Ram Rahim into Superman
And thereby does everything that PK warned its viewers against, regarding Godmen! Gautam Buddha too spread teachings of his faith, but he was certainly not performing at concerts and riding Harley Davidson or whatever the hell Ram Rahim is riding while he was at it! Shouldn’t simplicity be what this Godman should aim at instead of being a sorry copy of Ajay Devgn.
Ram Rahim Singh is no Salman Khan
Or any actor for that matter! I am willing to make peace with his awkward dialogue delivery but not with that hair on his arms for crying out loud! Yes, ON his arms not under them! I am all for unconventional heroes in movies but I cannot take life-size posters of him at every nook and cranny of the city once this film’s release date approaches.
A dis-honorary mention
I stumbled upon this music video of Ram Rahim and now I am scarred for life. While you can watch it for yourself and join the club “I’d rather gouge my eyes than watch MSG”, I’ll just make a request. Let’s just not allow a man who makes songs like these and wears the most outrageously tacky outfits to appear on a 70 mm screen! Pretty please?
SO those are my three reasons for banning MSG instead of PK! If you have more reasons to add to this list or to dismiss this piece flat-out, leave your comments below!
