Here’s taking a look at the lucky couples of 2014…
2014 has been a wonderful year for Bollywood. And more so for some celebs than others. While some achieved success on the professional front, there were other who did great on the personal front. Taking a look at the later, here are some celebs who got hitched this year…
Aftab Shivdasani and Nin Dusanj
Actor Aftab Shivdasani decided to tie the knot this year on June 11, with girlfriend Nin Dusanj, after dating for two years. While the groom took his time to make the news public, actor Kabir Bedi broke the news on twitter, as he wished the couple. Aftab met Nin, an Indian luxury brand consultant, through common friends, when she moved to India from Hong Kong in 2012.
Dia Mirza and Sahil Sangha
Dia Mirza and her long-time beau and filmmaker Sahil Sangha finally tied the knot this year on October 18 in Delhi. The couple have been together since 2009, but it was only this year that Sahil went down on his knees and proposed to Dia in New York. The four-day long celebrations saw many rituals and many B-Town celebs dropping by to wish the couple.
John Abraham and Priya Runchal
Twitter became a source for both good and bad news, as celebs took to the micro-blogging site to share their plans with fans and well-wishers. John Abraham did it in style ringing the New Year with a surprise announcement of his marriage to girlfriend Priya Runchal, an investment banker. The Bollywood hottie tweeted, “Wishing you and your loved ones a blessed 2014! May this year bring you love, good fortune and joy. Love, John and Priya Abraham.” While there were reports that the couple had tied the knot a while back, everyone chose to brush that aside and share in the happy news.
Raageshwari Loomba and Sudhanshu Swaroop
Family and friends again played cupid to get this couple together. Singer Raageshwari Loomba, tied the knot with London-based, human rights barrister, Sudhanshu Swaroop, on January 27 this year. The couple was introduced to each other by friends and family, after which they continued communicating online, things worked out for the duo and they finally took that big step.
Sameera Reddy and Akshai Varde
Apart from love and admiration, this couple has another thing in common their passion for bikes. Actress Sameera Reddy said her vows with bike designer and entrepreneur, Akshai Varde, on January 21. And keeping that passion alive Akshai vroomed in making a grand entry on a self-designed custom made bike. The wedding was a traditional Maharashtrian function celebrated with close friends and family.
Vir Das and Shivani Mathur
Going the low-key way, was another actor and comedian Vir Das who married his long-time girlfriend, Shivani Mathur in a private ceremony in Sri Lanka on October 19. In fact, in an interview, Vir revealed that he went that extra mile to ban the usage of cell phones during the three-day celebration to ensure news did not get out into the public domain.
Pulkit Samrat and Shweta Rohira
Actor Pulkit Samrat, married his girlfriend Shweta Rohira, on November 3 in Goa. Since Shweta happens to be actor Salman Khan’s rakhi sister, the actor made it a point to be there for her and also did her kanyadaan.
Gaurav Kapur and Kirat Bhattal
Sports anchor Gaurav Kapur tied the knot with Delhi-based Kirat Bhattal in an intimate ceremony in Chandigarh. Gaurav opted for a beige shervani and turban, whereas his beautiful bride wore traditional red and golden lehenga. The celebration saw his friends in attendance including Neha Dhupia, Sandhya Mridul, Yuvraj Singh and Mini Mathur.
Rannvijay Singha and Priyanka Vohra
Rannvijay tied the knot with his London-based girlfriend Priyanka Vohra in Mombasa Kenya on April 10. The roka and sagai were held in Dubai and London respectively. Later, his friends and TV producers, Raghu and Rajiv, decided to showcase the wedding online as a webshow, Hitched, on YouTube. The couple had a traditional Sikh wedding.
