Now that the Board has put its foot down, Aamir and his PK team can heave a sigh of relief…
The Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has spoken, no scenes will be cut from Aamir Khan’s PK. The chairperson of CBFC Leela Samson said that the Board won’t be removing any parts from the film as it has already been released.
PK was released in theatres on December 19 and since then it has been a hotbed of controversies! On one hand PK has been making and breaking box office records and on the other some fundamentalist groups have staged protests as they think that the film hurts their religious sentiments. Some even demanded a ban on the film stating that Aamir’s film hasn’t been even-handed in its criticism of religions. Some groups accused the film of promoting Love Jihad!
Leela Samson goes on to state, “Every film may hurt religious sentiments of somebody or the other. We can’t remove scenes unnecessarily because there is something called creative endeavour where people present things in their own way. We have already given certificate to PK and we can’t remove anything now because it’s already out for public viewing.”
Well the Board’s verdict sounds right considering that people should watch PK as a film and not as an agenda. Otherwise they should just not watch the film at all!
