Right before the release of PK we ponder over the superstar’s previous mega blockbusters…
Aamir Khan has been the most favoured Khan of the Christmas season. His movies whenever released around this time have created wonders at the box office. Even his upcoming Rajkumar Hirani directorial, PK, is releasing right before the Christmas weekend and going by the promos and trailers of the film will surely make it a blockbuster. Here’s taking a look at the actor’s past releases which broke many a records:
Ghajini
In 2008, this AR Murugadoss directed film became the first Indian film to cross the Rs 100 crore mark. The movie was a remake of a Tamil film of the same name and directed by the same filmmaker. The film grossed about 114 crores in the domestic market and internationally grossed about 40 crores. The film’s basic plot was inspired from a Hollywood flick called Memento.
3 Idiots
In 2009, this Rajkumar Hirani directorial broke Ghajini‘s record and became the second entrant in the Rs 100 crore club. The movie went to earn about 202 crores at the domestic box office and thereby became the first entrant in the Rs 200 crore club even. Also the movie earned 156 crores at the international market. This record of the highest grossing Indian film remained for a long time till Shah Rukh Khan’s Chennai Express broke it in 2013.
Dhoom:3
Last year’s biggest blockbuster and the highest grossing film of the Dhoom franchise broke all previous records set at the ticket windows. The film broke the records set by Chennai Express and Krrish 3. Dhoom:3 garnered about 284 crores in the domestic market and about 217 crore from the overseas market. The film became the biggest hit in B-Town history and till date that record holds on. It was the only film which managed to cross the 500 crore margin in the overall collections.
With PK releasing on December 19, 2014 it is expected that the film will break all of Aamir’s previous records and make a new landmark for itself.
