Aamir Khan is one actor has stayed away from awards ceremonies for the longest time. Yes, we did see him at the Oscars when his film Lagaan got nominated in 2002 but we don’t remember Dhoom:3 baddie attending IIFA, Filmfare or Zee Cine Awards. Well, the versatile actor has boycotted awards for a reason and it has got to do with Shah Rukh Khan. So here’s the whole story: Mr Perfectionist was mighty upset when he didn’t win the Best Actor award for Rangeela at Filmfare Awards in 1996. He felt he deserved the trophy however it was SRK who walked away with the award for his film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge that year. While this whole episode didn’t go down well with Aamir, he even thought that the organisers were always biased towards Shah Rukh. In fact, things turned ugly as Khan even had a show down with the then editor of popular glossy Filmfare.

After this fiasco, Kiran Rao’s hubby decided to not grace any Indian awards function. While most of the prestigious awards ceremonies have continued to nominate Aamir for his good work, the actor even today doesn’t send his nomination clips for the same.
