Salman Khan is under trail on charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder for his 2002 hit-and-run case. The offence can land him up to 10 years of jail term. The possibility of him being convinced seems likely as three key eyewitnesses informed the sessions court that the Kick star was seen by them getting down the drivers seat of an SUV, which has been said to have over run a group of people. The incident happened on September 28, 2002 and one person was killed in it. However, there were four others who were injured as well. On one hand these eye witnesses are trying to prove him guilty Salman’s lawyers claim that it was not the jai Ho star who was driving the vehicle. A few eyewitness even claimed to have been threatened to change their verdict. However much we love Salman Khan, we can’t rule out the possibility of him being behind the bars by the end of 2014. So we decided to see as to what all will happen if he ends up in jail.
Firstly, there will be a huge loss to the film industry not just by means of acting but also monetarily. We hear that over Rs 500 crore is riding on the backs of Salman via his forthcoming films. The filmmakers are definitely having sleepless nights and they are trying to finish off their projects as soon as possible. About Rs 350 crore is banking on Salman with films like Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Wanted 2, No Entry Mein Entry, Partner 2, Shuddhhi, etc. Also about Rs 50 crore worth endorsements are on him which will go kaput if he is jailed.
Secondly, the rumoured marriage of Salman with Iulia Vantur will get postponed. Salman has been avoiding getting married since ages but finally it seems with Iulia he will get settled down. But if wishes were horses beggars would ride. On top a jail sentence would get this divine association postponed further.
Thirdly, the bond between Salman and Sanjay Dutt will grow even further. The two have been great friends ever since, but with both of them behind the bars their camaraderie is bound to increase. If convicted Salman and Sanjay would both be in the same jail premises and therefore it is possible that their bond increases.
Finally, with Salman out of the filmy market there would be new box office kings. It maybe the younger lot like Shahid Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Varun Dhawan, Sushant Singh Rajput, Ayushmann Khurrana, Aditya Roy Kapur, Arjun Kapoor or Sidharth Malhotra. Or it could be the matured lot like Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Abhishek Bachchan, Arjun Rampal or Shah Rukh Khan. The king of Rs 100 crore films could pass on to others.
However, we hope that our beloved Dabangg Khan doesn’t go behind the bars and we are able to see his films till time immemorial. But with a big star like Sanjay Dutt coming under the wrap of law, we can’t rule out the option of Salman behind the bars as well.
