Bollywood has doled out some amazing songs in 2014. While there were few whose lyrics were way too wacky and bizarre, there were other rare gems that made it to our playlist. And some are still playing on the loop. So this post is all about those soulful and beautiful songs which made 2014 a memorable year. Here’s our favourite list and BL readers we want you to vote and tell us which one deserves the Numero Uno spot…
Harjaiyaan from Queen: Kangana Ranaut starrer didn’t just get the Fashion beauty a new title, but with this film Amit Trivedi also proved his mettle as a music composer. Almost all the songs from Queen grabbed eyeballs but Harijaiyaan sung by Nandini Srikar has made it to this list because of its meaningful lyrics and lovely melody. It’s one of those songs that will linger in your mind even if you don’t have it on your playlist.
Zehnaseeb from Hasee Toh Phasee: Karan Johar’s production venture starring Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra in the lead was indeed a musical treat this year. While all the songs from Hasee Toh Phasee were appreciated, the one which really stood out was Zehnaseeb. As soon as the song was out, people went gaga over it on Twitter and we don’t blame them because it is indeed one of the most soothing romantic numbers.
Patakha Guddi from Highway: With this film, AR Rahman once again proved why he totally deserves the tag of ‘Mozart of Madras’. Not only Alia Bhatt’s acting was praised but the music of Imtiaz Ali’s film also caught attention and especially this track which is sung by Nooran sisters – Sultana and Jyoti. This soul-stirring song is certainly going stay on the playlist of many for a long long time, hai na peeps?
Mast Magan from 2 States: Sung by Arijit Singh and Chinmayi Sripada, Mast Magan from Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor starrer instantly struck a right chord with the masses and became popular in no time. This slow romantic track got many falling in love again all over again!
Muskurane ki wajah tum ho from City Lights: Though Hansal Mehta’s directorial venture didn’t get cash registers jingling, his heartwarming film and this touching composition did impress many. Arijit Singh once again managed to charm the music buffs with his dumdaar voice.
