OMG: Pulkit Samrat and Yami Gautam attacked by the locals in Kashmir?

The duo faced a horrific incident while shooting for their film in Kashmir recently. Read on to know more…

Pulkit Samrat and Yami Gautam were shooting for their upcoming film, Junnooniyat in Kashmir last week. It all started as a smooth-sailing experience for them, but it slowly turned into a nightmare when they, along with their director Vivek Agnihotri were attacked by locals for using Kashmiri girls for a song sequence.

“It was all smooth in Sonmarg and we thought, ‘Wow , how different the reality is from the perception of Kashmir,” says Vivek.

After shooting a song where around 20 Kashmiri girls participated, the unit was moving from Sonmarg. However, while they were moving their vehicles were blocked by around 100 Kashmiri men with burning torches demanding that the Kashmiri girls be handed over to them.

“It’s not that the Kashmiris don’t want their women to work in films. They’re okay with women working in Kashmiri films, but not Hindi films. They hate all things that are Indian. They hate the government that has ruled them for decades and are looking for a change. They distrust Indian politicians. But they see hope in Narendra Modi,” adds Agnihotri.

Recalling the horror of being attacked by locals Vivek says, “There were around a 100 men with torches pounding on the windows of our cars demanding that we hand over the Kashmiri girls to them. Fortunately they had finished their work and were not with us. If they were with us they’d been pulled out and thrashed by their own men.”

However, despite of all these glitches, Vivek is all set to return to Kashmir with Pulkit and Yami in February 2015 for the last schedule of Junnooniyat. We hope he doesn’t face any such troubles then.
