After getting cash registers jingling over the weekend, Aamir’s film also passed the crucial ‘Monday’ test with flying colours…
Rajkumar Hirani’s PK starring Aamir Khan, Anushka Sharma, Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani, Sushant Singh Rajput and Saurabh Shukla hit the screens on Friday (December 19) and opened to a great response. As expected, Hirani’s latest venture not only impressed the critics big time but it also charmed the audience. On day 1, Aamir-Anushka starrer raked in Rs 26.56 crore and on day 2 the collections went up further as PK minted Rs 30.05 crore on Saturday. On day 3 (Sunday) the figures were even better as Raju Hirani’s directorial venture collected Rs 38.24 crore thus bringing its three day domestic total to around Rs 95 crore.
Interestingly, PK managed to fare well on Monday as well. The film grossed between Rs 21 to 22 crore on day 4 which we hear is the highest Monday collection for any Bollywood film. Now that’s mighty impressive because usually films fail to pull in crowd to the theatres on Monday.
So as of now, the total domestic collection of PK stands at around Rs 116 crore and we are pretty sure the figures are only going to get better in the coming days as Christmas vacation will kick off from December 25th. Also, there is hardly any competition at the box office. Yes, Anurag Kashyap’s Ugly is releasing this Friday but there is hardly any buzz around the film. So looks like its going to PK all the way at the box office.
