Aamir Khan’s much-awaited film PK, which released last Friday, has literally created hungama at the box office. Co-starring Anushka Sharma, Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani and Sushant Singh Rajput, Rajkumar Hirani’s film not only got cash registers jingling over the weekend but has managed to sustain the good run at the box office on weekdays as well. After minting around Rs 95 crore in the first three days, PK fared well on Monday too and ended up collecting Rs 21 to 22 crore. That’s not all! The Aamir-Anushka starrer managed to pull in crowd to the cinema halls on Tuesday as well. PK has grossed around 18 crore on day 5 which is a good figure considering most films fail to do good business on weekdays.
Exhibitor-distributor Akshaye Rathi told us, “PK is sustaining fabulously at the box office so the first week collections should be around Rs 175 crore if not more than that.”
Director Milap Zaveri also wrote on Twitter, “#PK has an extraordinary Tuesday too! In the range of 19-20 crs! It’s set to have the highest first week EVER of approx 175-180 crs! Wow.”
According to Boxofficeindia, “PK is heading for the highest first week total of all time as it set to edge past the 173 crore nett total of Dhoom 3 which was set last Christmas. The advance bookings are huge for Christmas and it looks like the film will have a better total on Christmas Day than it had on day one.”
Just like 2013, Aamir is certainly going to end this year on a high with PK creating dhoom at the ticket windows!
