As one of India’s greatest love stories on celluloid reaches the milestone of completing 1000 weeks on screen, Yash Raj Films has planned for a grand event at none other than Maratha Mandir
No film in the history of cinema has ever crossed 1000 weeks. And Yash Chopra’s 1995 love story Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge is all set to surpass that record as it completes 1000 weeks at Maratha Mandir om December 12,2014. The film which gave Bollywood one of the most iconic onscreen jodi of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, has left classics like Mother India and Sholay far behind by drawing crowd week after week for 20 years!
Executive Director of Maratha Mandir Cinema, Mr Manoj Desai revealed that YRF has made big plans on December 12 to commemorate the milestone achieved by DDLJ. He also stated that, the jodi that is cynosure of all eyes, SRK and Kajol will also perform at the event held at Maratha Mandir. Mr Desai also mentioned that if people are willing to watch DDLJ on big screen, then he would continue screening the epitome of romantic films even after the completion of 1000 weeks.
I have grown up watching DDLJ and the fanboy in me is very much excited to see SRK-Kajol together on stage for celebration of 1000 weeks of DDLJ. Now you know where to catch me on the eve of December 12.
