This year has been the year of wacky lyrics. Here’s taking a look at some…
Bollywood has seen abundant wacky lyrics. From the 1990s till the early 2000′s we were flooded with songs like ‘Meri pant bhi sexy’, ‘Khada hai khada hai’, ‘Tandoori nights’ etc. Of late musicians have become very specific about the lyrics and they make sure that they compose songs that have longevity. So is the wacky trending reviving this year with songs like I’m just pakaoed, Ice cream khaungi, G Phad ke, Paji you are such a pussy cat, Bang bang and Nonsense ki night? We wonder…
Happy Ending (G phad ke and Paji you are such a pussy cat): There are just a couple of songs from this Saif Ali Khan-Govinda-Illeana D’Cruz-Kalki Koechlin starrer that have become popular and both of them have made it to the list. Songs like G phad ke and Paji you are such a pussy cat have not just taken quirky lyrics to a different level but also have become very popular among the masses.
Happy New Year (Nonsense ki night and Satakli): The recently released magnum opus starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood and others also has been in the news for its lyrics. Songs like Nonsense ki night and Satakli have become very popular with the audiences and their lyrics are wackier than any other SRK movie song that we have heard of late.
Bang Bang (Bang bang title track): The Hrithik Roshan-Katrina Kaif starrer action comedy film was appreciated a lot for the songs as it had some awesome dance steps. The title track Bang Bang became very popular because of it being HR’s best dance number in years. Also it had a tribute to Michael Jackson in it. However, people who paid some attention to the lyrics did get the quirky feel.
The Xpose (Ice cream khaungi and Dhan te nan): The Himesh Reshammiya-Yo Yo Honey Singh starrer retro musical film had some interesting take on lyrics. Songs like Ice cream khaungi and Dhan te nan just made you go… WHAT?
One By Two (I’m just pakaoed): The Abhay Deol film was loved by critics but panned by audiences because of the story line. However, the movie was appreciated for its wacky number I’m just pakaoed, where Abhay was seen dancing around the house in boxer shorts, holding and strumming a guitar. The lyrics were beyond funny and made you guffaw throughout.
Action Jackson (Chichora piya and Punjabi mast): This Ajay Devgn film was panned by all and sundry. The music by Himesh Reshammiya was, however, good but it was the lyrics of all the songs that made the album a pathetic one. Out of the many songs, Chichora Piya and Punjabi Mast made our day because none of the words made any sense.
Fugly (Fugly fugly title track): This Akshay Kumar production venture was appreciated for the stellar performance by Jimmy Shergill but couldn’rt manage to earn the big moolah. The title track got itself in some controversy, all thanks to the weird lyrics. It was however the dance jugalbandi of Akshay and Salman Khan that made people remember this song, even after having such quirky lyrics.
Main Tera Hero (Shanivaar rati): The music of this Varun Dhawan starrer did well at the low budget DJ parties as most of the songs were dance worthy. Even the song Shanivaar rati makes you dance in full fervour but the lyrics are totally confusing. However, it was Varun’s dance steps and the sexy moves by Illeana D’Cruz and Nargis Fakhri made this worth a watch.
Jai Ho (Photocopy and Baki sab first class hai): This Salman Khan starrer was the first Rs 100 crore film of the year, but the songs of this film couldn’t have been any worse. The music by Himesh was the lowest ever with songs like Baki sab first class hai. Even there was a full fledged Gujarati song, which tried to create the same impact that all Punjabi songs do, but failed pathetically.
Hasee Toh Phasee (Punjabi wedding song and Drama queen): This Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra film may have done decent at the box office and some of the songs also did well. However, songs like Punjabi wedding and Drama queen had some of the worst lyrics possible.
Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (Daingad daingad): This Varun Dhawan-Alia Bhatt movie did decent as well at the ticket windows but there is one specific song Daingad daingad, which had really bad lyrics. By listening the lyrics, it is at all not possible to figure out that it’s a wedding song.
Humshakals (Piya ke bazaar mein): This song featured the whole crazy cast of Humshakals. The lyrics were in no ways at sync with the nature of the song, which was a party song sorts of. On top Himesh’s music didn’t do a lot of benefit for the song as it wasn’t good at all.
Lekar Hum Deewana Dil (Mawali Qawali): This song from the Armaan Jain-Deeksha Seth film had music by AR Rahman but it is good to not count this film in his filmography. That too the song Mawali Qawali, had the worst possible lyrics for an item song.
Heropanti (Pappi song): Having good music cannot always define the song being good. The song from Tiger Shroff-Kriti Sanon’s debut film rocked the masses with its music but looking closely at the lyrics, this song has nothing in it apart from the ‘Kiss’.
Finding Fanny (Shake that bootiya): This song made great noise online as it had some great cinematography. Also the film was touted as a great film to have a watch. But wonder what inspired the makers to include such sick lyrics.
Khoobsurat (Bum dole): The song from this Sonam Kapoor-Fawad Khan starrer was the first song released from the film and did well online. However, the lyrics weren’t justified at all as it was supposed to be a fun song and the lyrics made it look more like an item number.
So go ahead guys, have a look at these 2014 songs with crazy lyrics this year and let us know which one you loved the most.
