Why is Aamir Khan not going all out to promote his film PK?

He has rightfully earned the tag of ‘marketing genius’ in Bollywood, for his upcoming film, Aamir hasn’t devised any unique strategy but why? Let’s find out…

Aamir Khan is one actor who never fails to come up with innovative marketing gimmicks for his films. From giving Ghajini haircut to the aam janta while touring cities in disguised avatar, Mr Perfectionist has done it all and how! In fact, he even appeared on small screen when his thriller-drama Talaash was about to release. Considering he doesn’t go on TV shows for promotions, seeing him on CID was indeed surprising.

However, for PK which is directed by Rajkumar Hirani and co-stars Anushka Sharma, Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani and Sushant Singh Rajput, Khan hasn’t done much as far as promoting the film is concerned. Yes, he has gone city tours and has given few interviews but that’s about it. His film is releasing next week and we doubt he has planned something hatke to create more buzz around it. So the question is – why is Aamir and team PK keeping things low key from the promotional aspect?

Knowing Kiran Rao’s hubby at least I think this itself is a marketing strategy. Well, there is already a lot of speculation regarding the film’s plot and I am pretty sure the makers don’t want mystery around PK to fade away at this point. By not giving out too much information and not going full force to promote the film, maybe the makers are trying to build up the curiosity level. And if that’s the case then it sure seems to be working otherwise I wouldn’t be writing this piece, hai na?

On the other hand, I could be wrong. May be Raju Hirani and Aamir are indeed playing it safe but then that really doesn’t make sense because the former’s track record is exceptional as an filmmaker and we know what happened last time he teamed with the Dhoom:3 baddie. So there is no way PK could be a bad film. It may not turn out to be a blockbuster, which again I am just saying hypothetically, but I am sure that PK won’t be one of those films that people would regret watching. Do you agree with us?
