After conquering Bollywood with a series of Rs 100 crore films, the Dabangg actress’ Tamil debut also crossed the monumental figure at box office
With the emergence of new gen of actresses in B-town, the race for queen bee of Bollywood has become really fierce. People may keep comparing Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor Khan and others for the best heroine spot, but Sonakshi Sinha has left all her contemporaries behind in the race and emerged as the most bankable heroine of B-Town, as 5 of her films have crossed 100 crores at the box office.
In a short span of her career, Sona has given 5 big hits at the box office in the form of – Rowdy Rathore, Son of Sardaar, Dabangg, Dabangg 2 and Holiday, leaving behind all the A-list actresses in her wake. Now Sona has recreated the magic at the Southern Box office too, as her Tamil debut film, Lingaa, opposite superstar Rajinikanth had crossed the Rs 100 crore mark on the opening weekend itself. Though the film also stars Anushka Shetty, it is Sonakshi’s performance that has garnered some rave reviews from audience and critics alike.
Sona, who had worked in a lot of South Indian remakes, has admitted that she would like to work on more South films in future, which makes us wonder if the Tevar girl can become the next big thing in the South Indian cinema. While people may argue that Lingaa touched the 100 crore mark because of Rajini magic, can Sonakshi prove her critics wrong by showing that she is no one film wonder? Can Sona become the Rs 100 crore queen down south? Only time will tell!
