Indian actor Aamir Khan's 'PK' has been in news ever since its release. Several religious groups have staged protest against the movie demanding its ban. Radical groups in few cities in India have also disrupted screening and vandalised movie halls. Aamir Khan's 'PK' has been soaked in controversies. After facing protests in India over its alleged content, a fabricated interview of the actor on religion has now landed the film in another controversy.
But the latest controversy has left even Aamir baffled. A Pakistani website has carried an interview of Aamir Khan which the actor claims to have never given. Recently, the actor’s fake interview was posted on Pakistani websites regarding his latest release PK. Aamir Khan has sent a legal notice to some Pakistani websites for carrying his “fabricated” interview on religion with reference to his latest release PK.
Commenting on the credibility of the interview, Aamir’s legal representative Anand Desai said the actor was wrongly attributed to the interview. Anand Desai, managing partner of DSK Legal, who sent the notice on Aamir’s behalf, said the actor was wrongly attributed for the interview.
"Mr Aamir Khan was shocked to find an interview attributed to him on several Pakistani websites in relation to his latest film PK. He has never given such an interview. It is clearly a fabrication by someone trying to impersonate him, done with the intent of drawing visitors to their website, and is defamatory to our client,” Desai said.
"...Today we sent legal notices on behalf of Mr Khan to the websites... The impersonation is a very serious infringement of our client's rights, and we will take legal recourse. Mr Khan will be filing a criminal complaint with the Cybercrime Cell, Mumbai Police after he returns to Mumbai," Desai said. Aamir, 49, is currently in the US.
The allegedly ‘fake’ interview carried controversial answers on Islam, as shown in the screen grab below.
According to Desai, the 49-year-old actor was shocked to find the interview attributed to him on several Pakistani websites. “He has never given such an interview; it is clearly a fabrication by someone trying to impersonate him, done with the intent of drawing visitors to their website, and is defamatory to our client,” he added. Desai further said impersonation was a very serious infringement of his client’s rights, and that he will take legal recourse.
