Beauty in essence is like one of those indescribable aspects – explored by painters, felt by poets, written by writers. Ask someone to define beauty and you will get a different answer by almost every different person. Yet, despite all such conflicting views, one broad definition that spawns beauty are good looks. Our entertainment industry is full of such starlets with flawless skin, chiseled features, lustrous hair and enigmatic eyes – enough to make a man momentarily glide in his fantasy.
This year many new actors and actresses hit the screens – and amidst all this – many beautiful faces came to the foray. Here is compilation of the top 10 most beautiful faces of 2014.
1. Armeena Rana Khan
Armeena Rana Khan is the perfect example of girl-next-door. Sharp features and a dreamy smile can simply sum up this Canadian film actress and model who has had a remarkable run in these 24 months with multiple print and electronic campaigns for leading textile brands. She also featured in a British short film Writhe that was featured in the Cannes Film Festival. However, this year, this charming lady set forth to start her own label in collaboration with a textile company and also bewitched her fans in the drama serial Mohabbat Ab Nahi Hogi.
2. Ayeza Khan
Grounded is one-word that defines the fairy that actress Ayeza Khan is. Her simplicity is her hallmark and her humbleness will almost leave an indelible impact on you about her personality. She is the right mix of talent, beauty and brains – talk to her for five minutes and you will notice how simple she is. She tied the knot with long time beau Danish Taimoor this year, in a much-hyped showbiz wedding ceremony. Her sudden retreat post marriage kindled rumours that she was quitting showbiz, but talking to an English daily, she clarified she was simply taking a break and would be back on screen soon! Well we’d love to have her on the face of the magazine once again.
3. Mehwish Hayat
Mehwish hit the big screen with a bang this year – a bang that will resonate for quite some time, until she purrs again. Mehwish’s sultry item number Billi from the film Na Maloom Afraad, has left quite an impression on the hearts and minds of the Pakistani men. Mehwish’s high cheekbones, pointed nose, luscious lips and charming smile are hard to forget, but it was her thumkas that rocked the year 2014. A true professional at heart, Mehwish is upfront and confident about almost everything, from her work to her dance moves.
4. Kubra Khan
Square in on the lips, Kubra’s most dominating features on her face. The mademoiselle from London also has an audacious persona and has garnered much fame with her role as a bank manager in the superhit Na Maloom Afraad. Since then her career trajectory is on upward swing, and Kubra, who is also known as Rabia, has signed a Bollywood venture Welcome to Karachi, starring Arshad Warsi. The hottie British born Pakistani started off her career as a model and has now bagged a lead role in a Bollywood flick! Way to go Kubra...
5. Urwa Hocane
Young, bubbly and vivacious – Urwa has unconventional looks. If you look at her closely, you’d see her sharp contours, but it’s her eyes that will captivate you. She is not an easy camera face, from what most photographers said, but Maya’s energetic presence and magnetic personality is enough to garner her spotlight. Having started her career as a VJ, Urwa, also featured in super-hit film Na Maloom Afraad and commercially successful Tum mere h rehna.
6. Neelam Munir
How can we ever ignore our very own Cindy Crawford? Neelam Munir has been there on our small screens for a few years now. Fans have seen her don diverse avatars – from a damsel in distress to a glamourous starlet with effortless ease. With countless covers to her credit and many hit drama serials, Neelam is not a new entrant in Pakistani showbiz. Her sharp features, and that signature mole right around the corner of her lips sets her a class apart from countless other pretty faces in Pakistan. She is a treat for most fashion photographers and has come a long way since her debut serial Thoda Sa Aasmaan.
7. Ayyan Ali
This Lahori lass has modeled for almost every top Pakistani brand – be it telcos or textiles – it seems that she has permanent spot on hoardings. Ayyan doesn’t just have a pearlescent complexion, she also has beautiful long hair and chiseled features that can rarely make a photographer go wrong. Her femme fatale looks have landed her many campaigns, but Ayyan doesn’t have much to her credit except for her singles (music ), and has since limited herself. Ayyan has great potential and she should surely explore her options beyond modeling.
8. Sana Javaid
With sweet and innocent looks, Sana Javed lands at the number 8 spot most beautiful faces of 2014. Sana, who is best known for her role in Mera Pehla Pyar has earned a great fan following. Her sweet dimples and simple looks are sure to win her some stereotypical roles in Pakistani television. Let’s see what 2015 holds for her.
9. Ushna Shah
“Indifferent, driven and badass!” Ushna describes herself in three words while talking to MAG. And a badass she is! More of a blunt, straight forward lass with innocent looks and dimples that could deceive anybody. When you fuse that kind of a personality with girl-next-door looks – you get Ushna Shah – a girl who has mesmerised all and sundry with her role as Rudaba in the drama serial Bashar Momin. From the momentary conversations that I have had with her, I can safely say that she is poles apart from the avatar of the helpless maiden she has donned in her hit television serial. Despite the rumours that chipped her public image, this York University graduate has confidently repelled all the negative light and has landed at the fourth spot of MAG’s list of most beautiful faces.
10. Sajal Ali
The young petite damsel, Sajal Ali, has so far garnered fame for her naive looks and child-like smile. Judged by the candid conversations we had for a recent interview, it’s evident that she is humble and polite like the characters she usually portrays. She is often seen shedding tears on the TV screen, but the real life Sajal is confident yet subtle, a rarity for actress her age which places her on spot 10 of list.
