The latest advertisement of a Q-Mobile is airing since start of Cricket world cup almost a week ago. Here is the mobile phone advertisement. The advertisement features Indian models.
While listening to a radio show in Lahore today, I noticed some arbitrary caller mentioned this advertisement as “controversial”.
It will be interesting to see whether this debate will lead us to some conclusion or not. As every time any such controversy is raised there are many hot debates, shouting, verdicts but without any solid resolution.
The regulatory authority of media PEMRA also needs to exercise its authority that if there are any formal complaints or grievances against a commercial or program, these are addressed properly through due process.
While the Urdu print media was largely silent about any such controversy, few portals and forums on web as well as twitter are debating the “controversy” in this advertisement.
In print media, renowned journalist Ansar Abbassi, slightly mentioned this advertisement in his column (in line 9) published on Monday 16th February 2015 in Urdu Daily Jang.
