Pakistan's first neo-noir film 'Tamanna', having released in Pakistan last year, is now ready to meet a global audience after it struck a deal, giving the film the green light for a worldwide digital release. The film premiered across cities in Pakistan, June last year, and also screened at the London South Asian Film Festival in 2012, where it bagged the Best Music Talent in Film Award for the song 'Koi Dil Mein' which was sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.
While talking to Showbiz Pakistan, producer Sarah Tareen of Concordia Productions said: "With the digital revolution in cinema, this is an exciting time for Pakistani filmmakers. In the recent years, investment in digital cinemas and technology has led to an increasing number of screens across the country and with filmmakers making use of the digital technology, filmmaking has become more economical and viable. We are pleased to collaborate with Mara Pictures for the worldwide digital distribution of 'Tamanna' and happy that it's getting the wider audience that it deserves."
Starring Salman Shahid, Omair Rana, Mehreen Raheel and Faryal Gohar, 'Tamanna' is directed by British director Steven Moore in what is a British-Pakistani co-production. The film centers around a young actor (Omair Rana) falling for the wife of a wealthy individual (Salman Shahid), convincing him to divorce her which leads to a game of life and death in an adaptation of Anthony Shaffer’s Sleuth'.

The songs of 'Tamanna' were sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Ali Azmat and Amanat Ali, while the background music was composed by British composer and musician, Arthur Rathbone Pullen, who is the son of the renowned English novelist, Julian Rathbone.
UK based film distributors Mara Pictures have acquired the rights to 'Tamanna' and will be giving it a worldwide digital release in March. Mara Pictures had previously acquired the UK rights for Afia Nathaniel's 'Dukhtar (Daughter)' which is set to release across UK cinemas in April.
