Mahira Khan’s Ho Mann Jahaan was previously a confirmed Eid-ul-Azha release, but the movie’s Twitter account proves otherwise. Sonya Jehan, a key actor, has revealed that the film will be released after Moharram.
A source close to the film confirmed this news. “Yes, Ho Mann Jahaan is not releasing on Eid-ul-Azha,” said the source, “the reason being that Ye Jawani Phir Nahi Aani is slated to release at that time. As a company, we decided to not go head-to-head with another local production. Pakistan makes few films every year, so we’ve done this not only in the interest of both our film and Ye Jawani but also the industry at large.”
“We’ll coordinate dates with any other film releasing post-Moharram,” the source added, “We won’t postpone Ho Mann Jahan’s release beyond 2015. Our second project is already lined up, so it’s important to release it this year.”
Directed by Pakistan’s renowned director, Asim Raza, the movie is a contemporary tale of three college friends, Arhan, Manizeh and Nadir.
The trio shares the passion for music but comes from diverse backgrounds. Adeel Hussain plays the role of a rich kid while Sheheryar Munawar belongs to a lower middle-class family.
Mahira, who plays the leading lady in the movie is a daughter of a miniature artist who’s also a single mother.
The biggest surprise comes in the form of guest stars – Yes, Fawad Khan and Hamza Ali Abbasi will be seen in guest appearances making HMJ a must-watch.
Eid-ul-Azha was expected to be just as much a cinematic feast as Eid-ul-Fitr, but one major treat has pulled out of the box office race.
