Manto is a Pakistani film directed by Sarmad Khoosat and produced by Babar Javed. The film shows the life and times of the famous writer Sadat Hassan Manto. After winning critical acclaim in Pakistan the film is all set to go international. Manto has already been shown in some of the top states of America and now its one time screening will be done in top universities of America. It is scheduled to be shown in universities like Harvard University, Columbia University, Yale University and University of California, Berkeley.
Sarmad Khoosat will be present at all of these screenings. Sarmad Khoosat has made special efforts to be there on other screenings too. The film will also be shown by Radio Azad and PSA-UT Dallas this week.
When a fan of facebook requested Sarmad Khoosat to make arrangements for the screening of the film in India where Sadat Hassan Manto is very popular, he replied,
“The film is also going to Kolkatta International Film Festival and the one in Mumbai, MAMI.”
Sarmad Khoosat and his team are also making efforts to screen the film in Australia and England through festivals or other mediums. According to the director,
“The international release of the film is under design.”
This will give the international audience a chance to watch a film which is not commercial but has received a lot of praise from all quarters.
