Last night Kaun Banega Crorepati 7 witnessed its first Mahacrorepati winners – the Narula brothers. It seems the brothers have been trying to get on the show for the past 14 years. Quizmaster Amitabh Bachchan got very emotional to see the siblings carefully play the game and finally make the big win.

Big B also mentioned the entry of two very special guests, who made the evening more special. Shahid Kapoor, who’s upcoming movie Haider is all set to hit the theatres on October 3, came on KBC 7 with his co-star Shraddha Kapoor.

To make the evening more rocking, Bachchan requested Shraddha to sing a few lines and the actor happily obliged by crooning the song Bismil from Haider. Of course, Shahid also displayed his talent by dancing for Big B.

All in all it was indeed a glorious evening on the sets of Kaun Banega Crorepati 7. Stay tuned to this space for more news and updates.

Amitabh Bachchan’s Kaun Banega Crorepati gets its first winner of season 7

The Narula brothers, Achin and Sarthak, became the first ever contestants to win the highest prize of Rs 7 crore in reality game show ‘ Kaun Banega Crorepati’, hosted by Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan

The Narula brothers, who hail from Delhi, emerged victorious after answering all the 14 questions correctly with the help of four lifelines. Achin is a marketing manager and Sarthak is a student. Achin has been trying to be a part of the iconic show for the last 10 years but always fell short of being selected for the fastest finger first contest.

Bachchan, 71, hinted about the big win on his official blog and Twitter handle while posting his pictures from the show. He wrote, “It is a topsy turvy world tonight and KBC is the one that needs to be blamed!! What incredible moments, what brilliance and what an incredible play..! That is all I am permitted to say.

“The beauty and the excitement of KBC at its very maximum! Just an incredible moment,” Bachchan tweeted, followed by a photograph from the sets of the show featuring the winners. “Bazuumbaaa,” the actor posted along with the snap adorned with the Rupee symbol.”Bachchan, who has been hosting the show for 14 years, was reportedly speechless as the brothers made it to the top prize. Siddhartha Basu, who is the producer of the show, said the jackpot win was a moment to cherish. We have been waiting for a moment like this since the inception of this show. It is a pleasure to see bright brains like Achin and Sarthak battle it out for the Maha Jackpot.”

Gaurav Seth, Senior Vice President Marketing, Sony Entertainment Television called the win a “momentous occasion” while congratulating the brothers on their win.

His royal miss fit arm candy Sonam Kapoor on the other hand looked stunning in an ethnic pink and grey attire by Surendri. We love the beauty’s funky curled up hairdo and the heavy silver danglers.

Sonam has been seen sporting desi outfits for most of the promotional events, recent ones being her grey floral printed look by Payal Singhal and an Arpita Mehta crop top she was seen wearing with a NorBlackNorWhite jacket and skirt. It is refreshing to see the actor getting in touch with her earthy side for a change!

Big B and Rani depicted the story of a trafficked girl’s brave fight on KBC

A brave girl, trafficked at the age of nine in the name of marriage, has won kudos from megastar Amitabh Bachchan on his show Kaun Banega Crorepati. Fatima Khatoon’s tale would be featured in the game show tomorrow alongwith actress Rani Mukerji who plays the lead role in the upcoming film Mardaani, which is also based on child trafficking. “It was a very proud moment for me to sit on the hot seat along with Rani Mukerjee. She told me that the film is also very similar to my life. I am overwhelmed after getting a medal and a standing ovation from her and Amitabhji at the show,” Khatoon, who finally began an anti-trafficking campaign, told PTI over phone from Bihar. “They will show how I reached the brothel after marriage, fought against the establishment there, came out and stood on my own feet,” the 28-year-old said.

In 2004, Khatoon began the first women?s group inside the red light area in Forbesganj. She now leads Apne Aap Girls program in Uttari Rampur red light area. A mother of six children, she now organises women to fight for their own rights and the rights of their daughters to live a life free of sexual exploitation. “I also investigate against trafficking rings. Me and my daughter have been constantly attacked by the traffickers who try to keep her away from going to school,” she said. Khatoon has also won a handsome amount on the show. “I will use the money to raise my six children and build a home for them,” she said. She also plans to build a shelter home for women in distress.

The popular actor is on cloud nine after posing with Big B on the night of the grand premiere

Aniruddh Dave was hosting the grand premiere of Kaun Banega Crorepati 8, which was held in Surat. He shared the stage with Amitabh Bacchan, Kapil Sharma, Meiyang Chang and Neeti Mohan on the opening episode. Talking about the experience, Dave said “I hosted the public interaction and questionnaire section and also did a skit on Mr. Bachchan and Dharmendraji. It was an overwhelming experience ‘coz he is an icon, the legend has reached a milestone where no one can reach.”

Aniruddh claims that he was very excited when Siddharth Basu introduced him to Amitabh Bachchan. “I met him for the first time when Siddhartha Basu introduced me as a co-anchor with him. I was honored; and then I also got confused because I was not sure how to exchange pleasantries with him – whether to shake hands or say a namaste or touch his feet. In the end I did all three things together.”

Big B also praised Aniruddh on his energy and they both clicked several selfies together. “I was overwhelmed when for the first time he hugged me and clicked a few selfies; he also changed his faces for different expressions. I got very emotional. Mr Bachchan has oodles of energy in him. He is very particular about everything. Newcomers can learn a lot from him. He doesn’t even sit while working. He is so active, works day and night and still manages to concentrate on the content.”

Guess it was Aniruddh’s favourite moment with Big B!

Kaun Banega Crorepati 8 TV review: Amitabh Bachchan and Kapil Sharma keep it entertaining and engaging

Two hours and we still haven’t had enough of the legendary actor

It was the grand premiere of Amitabh Bachchan’s Kaun Banega Crorepati 8 tonight and there was not a single low moment. Almost everyone who has ever seen KBC in the past, know the format of the game show. However, this is the first time in the history of KBC that the show was shot live in front of a huge audience in Surat. It was as if the whole of Surat was there to witness history in the making.

What’s NEW

There’s a new lifeline – Triguni, which has a panel of three people – two winners from previous seasons and a quiz wiz. Last year one had to answer 15 questions to win Rs 7 crores, this season they’ve brought down the number to 14. The set is completely blue this season compared the blue and orange LED lights of season 7. People can play the game show from home through SMS and by logging online on the KBC website as well.

What’s HOT

The grand premiere had a lot of highs. He may have gone older, but there is nothing Mr Bachchan can’t do – sing, dance, act and charm the ladies. Kapil Sharma hosted the show in his unique style making people laugh including Amitabh Bachchan. After all the contestants, Kapil requested a chance to play with Mr Bachchan on the hot seat. Of course, he did not answer a single question correctly, but his replies for knowing the answers surely entertained us. Faisal Khan aka Maharana Pratap gave an energetic and entertaining dance performance. The veteran actor pleased several members of the audience who came on stage to meet, greet and dance with him. Amitabh Bachchan’s singing and dancing was a another highlight of the evening. While the questions until the second question were too frivolous, the rest will surely left us a little perplexed.

What’s NOT

A few things we thought would have been best if avoided. Neeti Mohan and Meiyang Chang’s slow rap at the start of the night – totally uninspiring. The infusion of CID Sr Inspectors Daya and Abhijeet who came to help Big B find a stolen cheque- what a waste of time. The mother and daughter-in-law, who came on the stage and translated one of Amitabh’s poems in Gujrati – that kinda killed the essence of the poem. The questions to fastest finger first should ideally be more intelligent and difficult. A question on who has Alia Bhatt not kissed onscreen for prize money of Rs 40,000. Lastly, everyone has a sob story to tell, but frankly, do we really need that in a game show. Guess the tear jerking moments are essential for TRPs.

Verdict

Wethinks the grand premiere was indeed a success. We loved the first episode of KBC 8. Moreover, we would have diligently watched it even if it ran for another hour or so.
