LANDI KOTAL: Security forces foiled a bid to smuggle 40 suicide jackets from Afghanistan into Pakistan and arrested a suspect at Pak-Afghan border today.
Official sources said that 40 suicide jackets unfilled with explosives were being smuggled into Pakistan from Afghanistan through the Torkham border with the apparent intention to be used them in suicide attacks. The jackets were to be stuff with explosives by local experts once they
transported to Pakistan. The security personnel arrested an Afghan national who was smuggling these jackets into Pakistan.
The detainee was shifted to Landikotal jail in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) where he was being interrogated. Torkham is one of the major border crossings between Afghanistan and Pakistan, located on the Durand Line border, connecting Nangarhar province of Afghanistan with FATA and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
It is the busiest entry point between the two countries, serving as a major transporting and shipping.
