SAHIWAL: The Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday laid foundation stone of a power project having capacity to generate 1320 megawatts electricity in Sahiwal district of Punjab province.
Significant moves are being taken by the Pakistani government to lessen severe power shortage across the country as a new power project in series has been formally launched by the premier in Sahiwal.
A prestigious ceremony is underway in Sahiwal today while the project would be established near Lower Bari Doab Canal situated in the district.
The inauguration ceremony is being attended by several high-level officials from Chinese delegation and Pakistan’s government including Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif.
According to reports, two power plants of generation capacity upto 660 megawatts would be installed in the first phase, which will be completed in November 2016.
While addressing to the inauguration ceremony, Pakistani premier praised prominent assistance of China in power sector of Pakistan.
PM Nawaz Sharif also made significant announcements during his address, said that 21,000 megawatts would be added to the National Grid in next 8 years.
The upcoming project would create several opportunities of employments in the country besides eradicating the power shortage.
Pakistan PM vowed continuous struggle to bring the country out of issues via firm steps by building its economy.
