Profile Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat was born in Lahore in 1952 to a landlord family of Jhang, Punjab. Education Faisal Hayat holds degrees in Masters of Arts and Law and Diploma in Business Management from Kings College London. He has the honour to attend prestigious educational institutions of the country like Aitchison College Lahore, F.C. College Lahore, Government College Lahore and Punjab University. Profession Faisal Saleh Hayat is an agriculturist by profession and is a successful businessman as well. Political career 1977 to 2002 He is one of the seasoned politicians of the country and began his political career 26 years ago when he was elected MNA for the first time on 7 March 1977 and achieved the feat for the fifth time on 10 October 2002 general elections. He defeated close-rival Syeda Abida Hussain by 74674 to 64396 votes. It was battle between two big wigs at NA-88 (Jhang-III); a running family feud featuring Abida Hussain of PML (Q) and Cousin of Faisal Hayat. Political journey from PPP to PLM-Q Faisal Saleh Hayat was elected has been repeatedly elected as Member of National Assembly of Pakistan (MNA) from NA-88. He started his political career by joinng Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), He later on joined Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians PPPP-Patriots and then Pakistan Muslim League (Q). Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control - 23 November 2002 Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat was sworn-in as Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control on 23 November 2002. Formed forward block in PPPP He was awarded the portfolio of Federal minister shortly after he formed a forward bloc in the Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentary (PPPP). Ten Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians, led by Faisal Hayat, on 14 November 2002 announced their differences with the party policies. The group was also comprised of Rao Sikandar Iqbal, Rais Munir Ahmed, Chaudhry Nooraiz Shakoor Khan, Tanveer Sayed, Malik Zaheer Abbas, Malik Aamir, Khalid Ahmed Khan Lund, Muhammad Raza Hayat Hiraj and Dr. Malik. PPP-Patriots The forward block, re-named as PPP-Patriots, had started with 10 MNAs and now has risen to 21. Faisal Hayat claimed that many more were ready to join the ranks of PPP-Patriots but he was not opening the floodgates. PPP-Patriots, headed by Defence Minister Rao Sikander Iqbal, have been rewarded with six key ministries including the Defence and Interior Ministries. Syed family on the opposite side of political divide The largest agriculture land ownership in Faisalabad-Jhang area is by the Syed family of Makhdoom Faisal Saleh Hayat and her cousin Syeda Abida Hussain. This family is Gadi Nasheen of a Shia Muslim Pir named Shah Jiwana but now cousins are on the opposite side of political divide. And its nearest town is Mandi Shah Jiwana on the Jhang Sargodha road. Current status He is currently serving as an opposition MNA after election 2008. Faisal Saleh Hayat is also President of Pakistan Football Federation.
