The Dil Dhadakne Do actor has come up with a music video talking about emancipation of women. Read on to know our take on the same…
They say one who is a jack of all trades is a master of none. This, however, doesn’t hold true for Farhan Akhtar. Be it direction, acting or singing, the Bhaag Milkha Bhaag fame aces every field and stands as an all rounder till date. Farhan in collaboration with music duo Salim-Sulaiman , has put forth a music video on behalf of the MARD campaign, which essentially highlights the scarcity of women participants on the Internet and the need to encourage the same. We give you three reasons why we feel the video works:An important message
The issue of online media gender gaps hasn’t been highlighted enough. The artists, therefore, could be credited for doing the same and putting forth an important message for the viewers to reflect on. Where discrimination, sexual harassment and objectification regarding women continue to be tackled on a daily basis, the message in the video has been given the much needed attention.
A smart video
The video of the song manages to create an impact which the makers essentially aimed for. It showcases women from all walks of life, using online media for their daily chores and needs. The essence of the topic has been presented cleverly, without it being overtly melodramatic or sappy.
An impressive ending
Happy endings appeal to people and the video has one too. The visual showcases women smiling at the camera with impressive designations talking about their achievements. It might come across as far-fetched, but is harmless nonetheless.
Our only qualms with song are the lyrics, which appear to be simplistic and could have been better written. Regarding the video, we would have liked to see Farhan and Salim Sulaiman sharing screen space with the women in the video as the same could have created a deeper impact.
