We hear for three days the construction work on the sets of Mohenjo Daro was stalled coz of the members of Film Studio Setting and Allied Mazdoor Union. But why? Read on to know full story…
Ashutosh Gowariker‘s magnum opus Mohenjo Daro starring Hrithik Roshan and Pooja Hegde in the lead had hit a roadblock. Apparently, the union members had stalled the work on the sets of the film because of non-payment issues. The talented filmmaker reportedly filed a complaint against the union members for stopping the work as it resulted in huge financial looses. In fact, Gowariker even claimed compensation for the same. The complaint was lodged with the Indian Film and Television Producers Council.
While taking to a tabloid, general secretary of the union Gangeshwar Srivastava said, “Our members were working on the set for more than a month, but no payment was made to them. They were not even given money for their regular expenses and we had to send our people money so that they could perform the Vishwakarma pooja on September 17.” Repeated reminders were given to the production house but apparently they failed to make the payments. Srivastava further added, “We were threatened with legal action if the work was stopped.”
On the other hand, executive producer of Mohenjo Daro, Lawrence D’Souza said to the same tabloid, “Since the set construction is taking place in Bhuj, going there and giving them the cheque took some time. That’s about it.”
Well, we hope things are now back on track because more the delay, bigger the looses for Ashutosh and his team!
