Saddened by the turn of events, Bhardwaj has opened up about Shweta
Several celebs like Deepika Padukone, Hansal Mehta and Sakshi Tanwar came out in Shweta Basu Prasad’s support, after her recent arrest due to her alleged involvement in a prostitution racket. And now it’s Vishal Bhardwaj, who has opened up about Shweta, blaming the media for sensationalising the incident. Incidentally, Shweta made her debut as a child actor in Bollywood with Bhardwaj’s film Makdee, for which she also received the National Award for Best Child Artist.
In a recent interview with a leading daily, the Haider director was asked his reaction on the whole controversy. And here’s what he said, “I felt very sad and also very concerned because she is a very talented artist. I don’t know how she got herself into this kind of a controversy. But what saddened me more was the [way] media was reporting on the incident. Someone got into a mess, and the media was trying to exploit the episode and sensationalise it. Why are those people who were (caught) with her being hidden? Why are the names of those businessmen being protected? It shows double standards of the media.”
Vishal also said that he would definitely would like to work with Shweta Prasad again. “Of course, I will work with her because she is such a talented actor; I’d like to write a role for her. [What happened with her] is very unfortunate and sad,” he said. If you will remember even Hansal Mehta took to Twitter to say the same.
However, Bhardwaj hasn’t reached out to Shweta yet coz he is waiting for the issue to subside. “No, I haven’t because I want this whole thing (the issue) to subside. [Currently] She must be going through a lot of trauma thanks to the media,” the Kaminey director added.
