Aamir Khan’s season 3 of Satyamev Jayate was a big success compared to the second installment of the same show. It’s strange to see how in spite of having two Bollywood biggies as hosts one show worked while the other continues to struggle.
Going by the TVT ratings – the first episode of Satyamev Jayate 3 bagged a 4.9 TVM (Television viewership in millions), and Salman’s Bigg Boss 8 garnered about 7.9 TVM. While the controversial show started on a good note, it could not sustain for too long. However, week after week Aamir Khan continued to get attention of the audience with interesting as well as hard hitting current topics, while viewers began to lose interest in India’s most favourite reality show Bigg Boss 8. As days passed, Satyamev Jayate touched 6.7 TVM, but Bigg Boss 8 came down to 4.1 and touched 4.4 TVMs at the max.
If you recollect, before BB8 went on air, there was a lot of excitement amongst the masses and expectations were sky high. Before the show began, Colors went all out to promote the show, be it contests, promos, the concept for this season, they did it all. Even today the channel is promoting the show on social networking sites with interesting twists, wild card entries and videos. On the other hand, Aamir Khan’s Satyamev Jayate though wasn’t promoted as much as the previous seasons, it managed to hold the audience’s interest all thanks to the discussions during the show.
