For any actor, privacy is the price they pay for the stardom they’ve achieved, but when fans cross the line celebrities are forced to retaliate
Ever since stories of Kamya Punjabi and Karan Patel’s relationship went viral, a certain section of the so called fan base has been lashing out at the actress. They made degrading statements undermining Kamya for getting into a relationship considering she is a divorcee with a child. Some have even gone to the extent to verbally abuse her and call her a home breaker. They want Karan Patel, who is now addressed as Raman (from Yeh Hai Mohabbatein) to get together with Divyanka Tripathi, who plays Ishita in the same daily soap. What they fail to understand is that Ishita and Raman are just fictional characters; in real life they do not share the same feelings.
Both Kamya and Karan did not retaliate to the snide comments made online, but things got worse when these confused fans got Kamya’s five-year-old daughter into the discussion. We caught up with Kamya to get her reaction and this is what the actress said, “If you say you are fan of Karan at least have the courtesy to respect his personal life. You call yourself his fan and then act like this? Just because we are actors does not mean that we don’t have the right to live the way we want. We are human and not god at the end of the day. So just let us be. They need to understand that Karan is just playing the character of Raman Bhalla in Yeh Hai Mohabbatein who loves Ishita. He is not Raman in real life.”
“We are here to entertain you. If you have any issues any with our work we are more than willing to listen to you. But you have no right to tell us we should do in our personal lives. The only people we give that right to is our parents and they are still around. We are not orphans that we need outsiders’ to advice on how to live our life,” she said.
Kamya further added, “Karan and I can also reply back, but we respect our fans ‘coz we know that we are what we are because of our fans. So it would be nice if they maintain a little distance. Frankly speaking, what they say does not affect our friendship or relationship. But they need to realise that the use of down market and cheap statements hurt and we also have emotions. Sometimes I feel these remarks only go on to reflect the background and culture of the ones who make them,” concluded Kamya.
Well Kamya definitely seems miffed with these fans. Let’s hope her words don’t fall on deaf ears.
