Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan, for whom the term ‘angry young man’ was coined, has been conferred with a lot of awards and honours throughout his four decade long illustrious acting career. Big B has added one more feather to his cap as he has been honoured with the 1st ANR award. So what’s so special about this award in particular? We tell you…
The son of late legendary actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Akkineni Nagarjuna, announced that the 1st ANR Award for irrevocable contribution to cinema would be awarded to Amitabh Bachchan, at a press meet in Hyderabad. Late ANR, who passed away in January, 2014 shared a special bond with his son, who turned emotional while conferring the award to Big B. Amitabh also shares a cordial relation with the Akkineni family, and even obliged to Nagarjuna’s request of starring in his film, by playing a small cameo in ANR’s last film Manam.
The award would be presented to the Shamitabh actor in a grand ceremony soon, expected to be held on the 1st anniversary of ANR’s demise.
