As expected, Rajkumar Hirani’s latest directorial venture has got cash registers jingling and how!
Aamir Khan, Anushka Sharma, Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani and Sushant Singh Rajput’s highly anticipated film PK hit the screens last Friday and got off to a flying start. Considering all the buzz around the film, we weren’t surprised with the response it garnered on day one at the ticket windows. On Friday, PK raked in Rs 26.56 crore and on Saturday the collections ever even it better as the film grossed Rs 30.05 crore at the box office.
Though the official figures for Sunday haven’t been disclosed as yet, early estimates suggests that Aamir-Anushka starrer has minted between Rs 38 to 40 crore on day three. Thus bringing its opening weekend total to around Rs 94 to 96 crore approximately, which wethinks is mighty impressive.
While Hirani and Aamir’s second collaboration has managed to impress the critics and audience alike, at the box office their film hasn’t really broken any big records as yet. But that’s absolutely okay because PK is one of those films which will run in the theatres for a very long time. Yes, it seems like a lambi race ka ghoda and certainly has the potential to become the highest grossing film of Bollywood.
