Times have changed. and it’s time for the masses of our nation to change as well. Here’s my opinion on Diandra and Gautam’s infamous smooch on Bigg Boss 8
So there is a major hue and cry about the lip-lock that happened between Diandra Soares and Gautam Gulati in Bigg Boss 8. Masses have been tagging it as indecent for national television, especially since the show is aired during prime time.
But honestly, I feel that this ruckus over a kiss, which was not even shown properly is plain ridiculous. In fact, the fully blooming romance between Diandra and Gautam is the only impressive part of the show this time around. Not because they occasionally vanish into various corners of the house to canoodle, but also how Diandra took the matters in her own hand without any fear of what her family and friends think about her. Atta girl. And yes, that this is the first time that two contestants have smooched each other on reality TV in India.
Times have changed. We are in 2014. When we can openly accept Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar’s kiss in Bade Achhe Lagte Hai, and Aamir Khan talking about a bold and sensitive issue of LGBT rights in our country on his talk show, Satyamev Jayate, then why do people blow the Diandra and Gautam’s lip lock out of proportion, which was censored keeping the parameters of the Information and Broadcast Ministry’s ‘prime time behaviour’ in mind.
What I feel is that television in India has always been timid as far as intimacy, especially in its prime time is concerned. And it’s time it changes.
To conclude, I will just say this. Since Indian cinema has now evolved, as far as bold content is concerned, why should TV be left behind. After all, its reach is more than films.
