Known for hits like Mera Naam Joker, Awara, Teesri Kasam and Sree 420, the late actor became one of Bollywood’s first superstars. Known as the ‘The Showman,’ the Raj Kapoor’s performances were widely appreciated by the masses, and his film Mera Naam Joker, proved to be one of his most iconic films ever.The late legend’s 90th birthday today, is being celebrated by Google with its fancy ways. Like always, Google makes it a point to dedicate a creative doodle to iconic figures on their birthdays and this time its Raj Kapoor’s smiling face with his signature style black hat and stick.What happens when you click on the doodle? The actor was born in the year 1924 and passed away in 1988 following complications arising due to an asthma attack. The actor along with being a performer, was also a noted Indian producer and director. He has won nine Filmfare Awards and two National Awards for his stellar performances. He was also honored with the Padma Bhushan in 1971 followed by a Dadasaheb Phadke Award in 1987, and soon came to be known as the ‘Çlark cable’ of the Indian industry.
Raj Kapoor’s roaring affair with Nargis was well known, despite him being married to Krishna Kapoor. Raj and Nargis were seen in films like Awaara and Sree 420, and the RK banner showcases Raj holding a lady in his arms, which is said to be Nargis!
