Surviving week after week in this glass walled house is no mean task, so then how did a Bollywood wannabe last for 15 weeks? Well, this is a puzzle we too are trying to solve
Sonali Raut best known as Himesh Reshammiya’s heroine in The Xpose and model Ujjwala Raut’s sister unlike her fellow contestants lagged behind in appeal and popularity. Not surprising then that she was the first to be evicted on the show, until she was brought back as a wild card entry and was saved again in the final weeks of Bigg Boss 8. We all wondered why? Well, here’s our guess…Controversy: A lesser known face with only a film in her kitty Sonali didn’t have much to bank on. Raut had even referred to Bollywood as “not very welcoming” and was hoping that BB8 will bring her the much needed limelight. Oh yes, she succeeded. For followers of Bigg Boss may hate her, love her, but simply cannot ignore her. The one film old heroine stayed in news as the season started for dumping her filmmaker S K Basheed and ditching his debut Hindi film 100% Useless Fellows. The Kannada director even went on to appeal to the channel and Salman Khan to evict his heroine from their show. The eviction did happen, but Sonali was soon back on the show.
The love triangle: Like most Bigg Boss seasons this one too wasn’t very different. There were cat fights, arm wrestling, bitching and of course Loooooooooove! So, Sonali’s love for both Upen Patel and Gautam Gulati is what kept her in the game. And that was just for the cameras. Raut did admit she hoped these antics would keep her safe inside the house.
For the voyeurs: Ali Quli Mirza’s infamous episode with the Raut gal and the slap that followed was one of the high TRP moments on the show. Sonali ensured that she stayed in the weeks that followed with her tactics and spooky ways.
Salman Khan factor: When Sonali was to be axed, the Kick actor saved her. It was Sallu’s birthday and the channel too complied we hear. So, was Salman being his generous self or will he be accused again of favouring Sonali like he was in the last few seasons for supporting Tanishaa Mukerji, Mahek Chahal and Arman Kohli? Well, only the Bajrangi Bhaijaan actor can explain that one!
