Professional rivalry or bigger fan following—what caused such a change at the last moment? Read on to find out…
Actors have been known to get replaced in films or TV shows but never with a fashion event. Generally when a fashion show happens, the designers make the showstopper dress after confirming the celeb who would be carrying it off on stage. But at the Dhaka fashion show, things did not go the usual way. Grapevine has it that Sushmita Sen was previously supposed to be the showstopper for the event but at the last moment she was replaced by Malaika Arora Khan. So what can the reason for such a sudden replacement be? We wonder…
While speaking to a leading daily a source informed, “Sushmita had asked for Rs 50 lakh, which the organisers could not afford. So, they approached Malaika to be the showstopper and she agreed to do it for Rs 10 lakh.”
But Malaika did not live up to the organisers standards either, it looks like. Our khabroos inform us that in Malaika’s contract it said that she would be spending sometime with her Bangladeshi fans and click pictures with them. The show organizers, however, complain that nothing of that sort happened. “Meeting the fans and clicking pictures with them was a part of the agreement. But after the show got over, Malaika spent barely two minutes with the fans. Her team asked them to stop clicking pictures and she just got up and left,” informed the organizers while speaking to a leading daily.
When contacted Malaika did agree to the fact that she didn’t spend time with the crowds but her reason was well justified. “I met my fans and was asked to leave due to security issues. They (organisers) couldn’t control the crowds,” she reasoned while speaking to a leading daily.
