The PK actor has been granted an annual leave by the jail officials
Sanjay Dutt, who is currently serving his sentence in Pune’s Yerwada jail after being convicted for the illegal possession of arms in 1993 serial blasts case since May 2013, has been granted a 14-day furlough yesterday (December 23).
Furlough, which is the right of every prisoner is an annual leave granted to prisoners to meet their relatives. The actor had filed an application with the deputy inspector general of police (prisons) seeking a 14-day furlough.
“Around two months ago, the actor had applied for furlough. We have sent the application with the required recommendations to the office of the DIG (prisons). Dutt had taken furlough around a year ago and is eligible for the same this year too,” a prison official was quoted by a leading daily.
The 14-day furlough can be extended by another two weeks, officials added.
If you will remember, in October 2013, Sanjay was out on furlough for four weeks and was granted a parole of another 30 days on medical grounds.
The actor has spent over 118 days out of jail, either on parole or furlough between May 2013 and May 2014.
