Rajkumar Hirani’s latest film hasn’t gone down well with certain religious groups who are now demanding ban on PK…
PK starring Aamir Khan, Anushka Sharma, Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani and Sushant Singh Rajput has managed to impress the critics and audiences big time. While the film has got cash registers jingling and is doing exceptionally well in India and overseas, it has courted yet another controversy. Some religious extremist groups have asked fans to ban PK as they feel the film is mocking sentiments of Hindus. Considering the plot of PK revolves around God and godmen, some opposition or protest was expected but seeking a ban on the film is going too far wethinks. So we are listing down three reasons why its regressive to seek ban on the Aamir-Anushka starrer…
Not targeting a particular religion
In the movie, Khan is seen visiting temple, church and mosque. In fact, his character PK talks about all the religions. The makers have not targeted one religion and shown it in a bad light. So its quite silly for one religious group to seek ban on PK while others have taken the film’s content in the right spirit.
No objection over Oh My God, then why PK?
Also, when Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal starrer OMG: Oh My God released in 2012, no religious group protested against the film despite the fact its story is similar to PK. Are certain extremist group targeting PK because the film’s hero belongs to a certain religion? We dunno but if that’s the case then wethinks its unfair because aren’t we the largest democratic and secular country in the world?
PK carries strong social message relevant in today’s time
Lastly, 2014 is coming to an end so we should bid adieu to this year with a positive message and that’s what PK carries. The film tells us that no matter who we are or how different we are from each other, at the end, we all are humans and that self belief is what will keep us going.
While we feel its regressive to seek ban on PK, Guys you vote and tell us – Do agree with the ban?
